Nanny Returns

I liked this book. I like that it revisits the characters and brings it to a conclusion. It was hard to put down at times. I'll give my rating on FB (Joy - this is for you.)
I now have Sizzle (Julie Garwood) and The Help. Can't wait to dig into both.
Also, I've been cooking some of the slow cooker and baked goods stuff from my fave blogs. Joel is surprising me with his willingness to eat out of the norm. (Cacciatore, jambalaya, burritos, carnitas in soft shell tacos). I also tried the baked stuff (apple dumplings w/ cool whip and the wheat dinner rolls). The dinner rolls were not too light and fluffy. It was a little dense so I'm not sure what I did wrong. Maybe over rolled it? Who knows. The boys and Joel are getting impressed with all that is coming out of the kitchen but the boys are not too excited about the mess they have to clean up. Can I tell you how much I love that they can do the kitchen clean up? You two really need to get some of your own. They are hard at first (1st 2 years) but they more than make up for it when they hit the elementary school years!
i just saw that they're making the help into a movie but i don't know who is going to be in it or any other details like that...
ReplyDeletei still haven't watched that bee movie, what was that book called? i heard it was good, anna liked the movie, a lot, the secret life of bees. did you guys watch it?
ReplyDeletei pan fried a ham slice in some pineapple juice in a cast iron skillet, microwaved some frozen broccoli from sams club and tossed it with mrs dash with a dash of rice vinegar, and baked a cauliflower head in seasoned & cheesed up campbell's mushroom soup casserole in the toaster oven just big enough for rieker and me tonite for dinner. It was quick to make (40 minutes baking time for the casserole) and rieker thought it was delicious. I'm trying to get him to come home earlier by training him to come home to eat a home-cooked meal by me.so far, i think it's working. i'll keep you guys apprised.
ReplyDeleteI cooked a ham steak earlier this week too. Just browned both sides. It was good. Also nuked sweet potato until soft, peeled then added dollops of butter and sprinkled brown sugar on top. Baked in toaster oven for 15 min. (just long enough to melt butter or smart balance) everyone seemed to like it. at least there were no leftovers. With this I nuked some peas. quick and tasty.
ReplyDeletethe movie is the secret life of bees and it was pretty good. it followed the book pretty closely.
