DayThree:PhoenixTrip
Can you believe this is only day three? Me either. It's taking forever to get through these pictures.
There were three things we wanted to accomplish that day before we left for Tucson. We wanted to go to a an Indian reservation to buy cigarettes, go visit Anne Marie's murals at the bank, and go to Four Peaks Brewery for lunch. Check, check, check. I didn't take pictures of buying cigarettes because it wasn't that exciting. The only thing notable about it was that was where I lost one of my flip flops, it fell out of the car as I was getting out. I had brought a change of shoes and didn't notice until we got to the brewery after the bank visit. Richard then took us back to the bank to look for it, not there, not at the house on the driveway either, therefore, I deduced that it probably fell out at the obscure cigarette shop on the Indian reservation. I challenged Rieker to find the shop again (after we left Richard's on our way to Tucson) and we did! I found the name on the cigarette receipt and looked up the phone number on the i-phone. He had me call first to see if someone had "turned in a flip flop". After the 12 year old clerk stopped laughing at me on the phone, they said no. Who would pick up a flip flop and turn it in? I wouldn't. We found the shop, luckily it was off the road to Tuscon, and found it in the parking lot! success! Was it worth it? to me it was.
Here it is again, without Richard in front of it. Cool, huh?? It's huge! Our cousin did this.
Then, Richard was nice enough to take us the the local Tempe Four Peaks brewery and restaurant for lunch. Rieker had discovered the beer while he was there and was glad to go, of course. We all shared the sampler platter shown below.
The calamari was awesome!!! But not enough. I could have eaten three of these plates. This is a picture of the calamari half eaten.

i'm glad you posted am's mural - i always wondered what it looked like-she's so talented.
ReplyDeletei still can't believe eddie drove you to find a flip flop - matty would've told me he'd buy me a new one.
that calamari looks HUGE and delicious...yum
i thought the same thing. joel would have offered to buy me a new one then given me grief for the rest of my life about the flip flop i lost. are you sure that was a calamari and not some weird desert animal? where can they get the squid from? it's a desert!
